Rationing versus Free-market Healthcare

Reading Andrew Sullivan’s post, I agree and disagree.

I know that the public-private mix is not the issue. The real issue is that for most Americans, their healthcare is already rationed. I think the issue becomes more a matter of whether it is corporate or government rationed. The sad fact, in my opinion having been covered by both, is that those eligible to receive the government rationed health care in America are doing better than those receiving corporate rationed health care. The reality is that many times, new procedures are deemed experimental by insurance companies and the government, but the government is more likely to have a funded study underway that one might qualify for.
